Matter Wi-Fi Temperature and Humidity Sensor with Tasmota, ESP32-C3 and SHT40

Smart Indoor Climate Monitoring

Monitor indoor temperature and relative humidity in real time with this compact Wi-Fi sensor. It combines a high-accuracy Sensirion SHT40 sensor, an ESP32-C3 Wi-Fi chip and Tasmota firmware with Matter support.

Simply plug it into a USB power adapter, connect it to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and integrate it with your preferred smart home system.

Key Features

  • Built-in Sensirion SHT40 temperature and humidity sensor

  • High-accuracy digital environmental measurement

  • Real-time temperature and relative humidity readings

  • Built-in ESP32-C3 Wi-Fi microcontroller

  • Matter over Wi-Fi support

  • Compatible with MQTT and Home Assistant

  • Local Tasmota web interface

  • Direct firmware flashing through USB

  • OTA firmware update support

  • Compact USB-powered design

  • No mandatory proprietary cloud service

  • Suitable for monitoring and smart home automation

Matter Smart Home Integration

The sensor uses Matter over Wi-Fi and does not require a Thread Border Router. A compatible Matter controller or smart home hub may be required by your selected platform.

Displayed sensor values and available automation functions may vary according to the Matter platform, controller and firmware version.

Monitor Your Indoor Environment

Temperature and humidity have an important effect on indoor comfort, storage conditions and the risk of excessive dryness or condensation.

This sensor is suitable for monitoring areas such as:

  • Bedrooms

  • Living rooms

  • Home offices

  • Baby rooms

  • Greenhouses

  • Storage rooms

  • Server cabinets

  • Workshops

  • Smart ventilation systems

  • Heating and cooling systems

The measured values can also be used in home automation rules to control humidifiers, dehumidifiers, fans, heaters, air conditioners or other compatible devices.

Powered by Tasmota

Tasmota provides flexible local configuration and smart home integration without requiring a mandatory proprietary cloud account.

Supported functions may include:

  • Matter over Wi-Fi

  • MQTT communication

  • Home Assistant discovery

  • Real-time temperature and humidity readings

  • Local web configuration

  • Configurable telemetry intervals

  • Automation rules

  • OTA firmware updates

  • Direct USB firmware flashing

Available functions depend on the installed Tasmota firmware build and device configuration.

Plug In and Power On

The sensor is powered by a standard 5 V USB connection.

It can be connected to:

  • A USB wall power adapter

  • A computer USB port

  • A powered USB hub

  • A compatible USB extension cable

Its compact plug-in design reduces cable clutter and makes it suitable for continuous indoor monitoring.

Direct USB Firmware Flashing

The ESP32-C3 supports firmware flashing through the USB connection. You can install, update or recover compatible firmware without using a separate USB-to-serial adapter.

This feature is useful for Tasmota users, developers and DIY smart home projects.

  • Start a dehumidifier when humidity becomes too high

  • Control a ventilation fan automatically

  • Monitor room temperature in Home Assistant

  • Record environmental data through MQTT

  • Send temperature or humidity alerts

  • Create different climate rules for day and night

  • Monitor storage rooms, greenhouses or equipment cabinets

Automation functions require compatible controllers, platforms or additional devices.

Package Contents

  • 1 × ESP32-C3 Tasmota Matter Wi-Fi Temperature and Humidity Sensor

USB power adapter and other accessories are not included unless specified in the selected product option.

Important Information

  • The sensor supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. It cannot connect directly to a 5 GHz-only network.

  • Matter functions require compatible Matter-enabled Tasmota firmware.

  • A Matter controller or compatible hub may be required for pairing.

  • Matter features and displayed measurements may vary between smart home platforms.

  • This is a Matter-over-Wi-Fi product. It does not use Thread.

  • Install the sensor in a position with natural air circulation.

  • Keep the sensor opening unobstructed.

  • Avoid placing it directly beside heaters, air conditioners, humidifiers, open windows or other strong heat and moisture sources.

  • Heat generated by the ESP32-C3, USB power adapter or nearby equipment may influence temperature readings.

  • For more accurate room measurements, use a USB extension cable to keep the sensor away from heat-producing power adapters or computers.

  • Allow the sensor time to stabilize after it is powered on or moved to a different environment.

  • This product is intended for general indoor environmental monitoring.
