Athom devices Security

Hi everybody,

I am wrecking my brains, added a couple of Athom devices to my home automation. For the most part works perfect. The one thing I can't get to work is some sort of basic authentication for the web server running on the Ahtom products. Don't like the idea that devices in my home can be turned on/off, sockets/home appliances etc. ESPHome does provide the configuration directives for doing basic auth. As far as my investigation has come it seems that Athom devices are happily ignoring said parameters. I don't understand the behaviour as the components required for basic auth are supported by 9 out of 10 web server.

Any bright ideas?

You can add it yourself, we only provide basic functions

Could you please let me know how I should configure this in the .YAML?

here is what I tried so far:

web_server:
  auth:
  username: admin
  password: <super secret password>

based on the example provided by ESPHome, the configuration did not work with either presence sensor or smartplug v2

much appreciate solution in case I missed something
